We covered three main areas: we began with a primer on organizing, how we got here, and where we’re going. Then we dove into storytelling for change – so members can use their stories to drive their collective vision through talking points and soundbites, press interviews, and testimonies. Finally, we examined how to have compassionately curious organizing conversations when talking to strangers and people in our lives we want to move to action for the first time.
When you’re stuck in a broken recovery system, it can feel like there’s nobody there to help you get back on your feet. But when we stick together, we can build the power we need to create real solutions and improve our day to day lives. All we need are the right tools for the job.
Hear from some folks who attended:
- “I walked away from there with a feeling of wanting more. Wanting more for not just myself but for my community. Since then, I’ve been using the skills I learned at the training to phonebank our members and directly impacted people across the country and I’ll be taking a role in our healthcare campaign!” – Katherine
- “I really liked the community aspect of it and how we were able to just have discussion, food, and talk to each other.” – Anonymous
- “It was helpful to meet members from other campaigns in person – it fosters connection beyond the “zoom” experience.” – Colleen
